In conjunction with its reopening, following its 2020–25 renovation, The Frick Collection commissioned porcelain flowers from Ukrainian sculptor Vladimir Kanevsky. Some 20 arrangements evoke the fresh flowers displayed throughout the museum when it first opened to the public in 1935.

Kanevsky’s lifelike porcelain flowers have been exhibited in museums around the world, including the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia and Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington DC. With an essay by Xavier F. Salomon and exquisite photography, this book documenting Kanevsky’s 20 extraordinary creations is a lasting souvenir of a unique installation at the Frick.

Xavier F. Salomon is the deputy director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator at The Frick Collection, New York
